I once used "day light savings time mental time screwup" as an excuse to turn in a paper late. The prof had never heard anyone use that one before.

BTW, you can only successfully use it on the first Monday (and maybe as late as the first Tuesday, but no later) after changing the clocks. On Wednesday, it's just too late.
